Central California Traction Company
March 8, 1996. Stockton, California.
Rare GP18 1790 heads south past the historic Stockton Shops. By this date, the line north of Lodi was on borrowed time and the idea of CCT operating the Port of Stockton was barely considered. The scruffy GPs made their regular trips to Lodi and less frequently Sacramento, then ambled back to Stockton, their future uncertain.
In only a few years, the venerable 1790 would be rebuilt and sporting an updated version of the classic red and white, while the CCT itself would be pulling more cars out of Lodi and a flood from the Port of Stockton. The line will become so busy that the GP18 would gain several new stablemates, including 4 SW1500s.
