TS 1314: Turlock Co-Op Growers, December 31, 1943 A completed waybill for a shipment of peaches loaded by the Turlock Cooperative Growers and consigned to the American Stores Company in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. The carload was received in Philly on January 12, 1944, having travelled via the Tidewater, the WP, the Denver and Rio Grande Western, the Chicago Burlington and Quincy, the Nickel Plate Road, the Lehigh Valley and finally
onto the Reading Company railroad for final delivery. Total charges were $634.25. Each railroad agent left a receipt stamp on the form, allowing tracking by date and interchange location. This is the earliest document I
have encountered where the Tidewater Southern is noted as TWS and not TS. It appears that these abbreviations for the railroad were used interchangably. Also, the waybill form appears to be an older version from the one depicted on
the previous page.
