Modesto, California.

Union Pacific GP40 671 and sister 677 are far along on the 9th Street trackage, tieing up the entire city center with a multi-hundred ton moving wall.  The two units are former MKT Railroad engines that came to the UP via merger in 1989.  As Western Pacific GP35s and 40s were either retired or reassigned, these former residents of the Midwest came to the coast to replace them.
