Connections and Neighboring Railroads

While the SP does clearly dominate the scene, this map gives a nice overview of how many railroads occupied the Sacramento-Turlock section of the Central Valley.  It also illustrates the Tidewater's two entries into Stockton, the Sharps Lane line visible to the east of the SP/WP lines, while the Hunters Lane line is shown running north from Ortega.  The map is misleading, however, as there is no evidence that these lines were ever in service concurrently.
