Tidewater Southern Railway
Rail Map of Stockton

While this very nice map mostly illustrates Stockton Electric and Central California Traction lines, it also has some interesting details concerning the Tidewater. Near the center, in the southern section of the city, one can find a line on Sharps Lane marked "original route". The TS originally entered Stockton to the east of the SP and WP mains and then used CCT lines to reach the Stockton Hotel (marked here as CCT Co./TS Ry Offices, located on Weber Street near the Stockton Channel) as well as the river boats at the Stockton Port. Evidence indicates that the TS also had a line to Ortega (off this map to the south) which was the freight interchange with the SP and WP. (It is unknown how the ATSF interchange, if any, was handled.) At some point, the line to Ortega was extended across the two Class 1s and followed the right of way of the old Alameda and San Jouquin Railway up Hunter Street. On this map, that line is shown to end just past the ATSF depot, but TS trains still terminated at the Stockton Hotel. The line either extended farther down Hunter to Weber, or the trains entered Stockton Electric trackage rights somewhere around Hazelton Street.
