May 30, 1948. Pittsburg, California. Still early in her career, 44 tonner 135 is caught while on loan to the Sacramento Northern on a rainy May day. It looks like the little engine is
sitting at SN's Pittsburg Depot, located right on 8th Street near the center of town. Note that this section of the SN still sports wire and will for a few years more. While the reason for this particular trip the the SN is
unknown, the 135 was documented working the Pittsburg area at times when the overhead was deenergized for maintanence. Since SN's own 44 tonners were working the trackage around Sacramento and northward, it was probably easier to grab
the 135 from Stockton. On at least 1 occasion, the 135 worked all the way in to Oakland on a weed spraying train, one of the very few times a diesel went over the SN's torturous line over the Oakland Hills.
