RS1 747 looks to be recently out of the paint shop in this Mel Lawrence photo.  Except for the strategically places pole, this would be one of the best shots I have seen of the 747.  This was probably the last major attention the old engine would receive, although it still had a few years left pulling freight through the valley.

Details

One of the clearest images I have yet attained of the TS rooftop spotlights.  They appear to be modified Gyralights, similar or identical to the red lights that Southern Pacific applied to their motive power.  The yoke that supports the light and allows it to swivel is very clear, as is the power feed for the bulb.  One interesting detail is what appears to be a handle on the top of the light.
