July 6, 1976.  Stockton, California.

The USA has just celebrated its bicentennial, but it appears that TS second 745 won't last much longer to enjoy the next 200 years.  Caught on the whisker tracks of the WP's Stockton Roundhouse, the old Alco looks tired and it probably out of service considering the missing headlight and open hood door.  RS1 746 and some WP units keep her company, including an orange F-unit seen just behind the 745's cab.  The cab of Sacramento Northern SW1 401 peeks out from behind WP S4 564 to the 745's left.  Amazingly, all 4 identifiable units in this photo survived over 30 years longer, including the forlorn 745.  564 and 745 were even stablemates at the Stockton Terminal and Eastern, although the Tidewater unit never turned a revenue wheel on the ST&E and spent all those years donating parts.  Today, only the 401 and 746 are left.
