June 14, 1974.  Yuba City, California.

Stepping off line to assist sister road Sacramento Northern was common for TS diesels.  Here, second 745 rests in the yard at Yuba City.  This area had been the SN's last stronghold of electrification and the last electric freight operation in California.  Soon it will be back to work switching the packing sheds, silos and other customers along the line and dragging the cars into Marysville.  The 745 has just under 2 years left as an active locomotive before it is sidelined and eventually sold off for parts.  The SN line in the Twin Cities would last until the early 2000s before UP removed all but the branch to Pearson.
