February, 1946.  Modesto,CA.

With World War II over, SN 602 sits at the Modesto terminal.  Considering that TS 106 returned from SN service shortly after the war and the road's first diesel, 44 tonner 135 was soon to arrive, its is likely that 602 is out of service here, possibly never to turn a revenue wheel again.  Two years from now, after its return to the SN, 602 would be converted into an unmotorized bunk car.  It would survive, however, and is now part of the Bay Area Electric Railway Association collection.  It is currently unrestored, the only box motor surviving from the SN.
