In the early 1970's, the WP began renumbering the TS Cornucopia cars into its series 36026-36050.  It appears that the cars were renumbered sequentially, skipping some that had previously been retired.  All photos I have seen indicate they received a "patch job" and not a full repainting.  Not all were renumbered by the merger: 504 and 507 are known to have escaped and one other car reportedly avoided the patch job as well.

It is unknown to me why the WP chose to do this.  The 601, 611 and 801 series cars were rebuilt, probably with WP money, therefore their renumbering and ownership change is probably tied to that.  The 501 series appears to have not been rebuilt.
