An essential piece of electric railroad work equipment, a line car is an item of rolling stock equipped with a raisable tower used for maintaining the overhead systems. Often, these cars were
made from old passenger cars or freight motors, sometimes they were simply flat cars trailed behind a piece of motive power. In the case of this car, it appears to be a speeder car trailer. It is probable that, in earlier
years, the TS used borrowed Central California Traction equipment for its overhead maintanence duties. It is doubtful this little car would have been adequate in the days when the mainline bore wire.
