Eugene John Vicknair collection

A well-used brass switchlock possibly dating from before the railroad's namechange in 1912.  Barely any track had been built by the time of the Tidewater Southern Railway's incorporation, and the prior Tidewater & Southern companies used RAILROAD and TRANSIT COMPANY in their names, rather than RAILWAY.  The lock is clearly stamped T&SRY, so there is the chance that it simply a misprint during an early order of locks.  This rare artifact still works and uses the same key as later TS locks.
