date unknown (probably between 1917-1920).  location unknown.

This is probably one of the most exciting photo finds I have ever been party to.  This photograph came from the personal scrap books of former TS engineer Frank Edgerton, recovered by the Stiles family after Mr. Edgerton's passing.  Mr. and Mrs. Stiles have graciously allowed me access to this rare photo.

It shows the TS second 1 in what was probably its original delivery scheme.  This appearence is one I have never discovered in any of my research.  An excellent find, despite the gentleman with the hat obscurring the front of the engine.  The glossiness of the paint suggests this may be one of the earliest photos taken of the engine on the TS: it appears almost new.  The TS second 1 came from the Denver and Rio Grande by way of the Western Pacific where it was WP 126.  It was owned by the WP for only 5 months before coming to the Tidewater.  No photos are known to exist of it in WP paint.  I have yet to find a photo of it on original owner Rio Grande Western or D&RG.

Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Stiles for saving these photos.
