June 12, 1947. Modesto, California.
In a scene very few railroads could muster, TS 132 accelerates north out of
Aurora, just north of central Modesto. On the yard tracks wait GE steeplecab 106 and, in the distance, 44 tonner 135. Wire will not last over the line down Ninth Street for much longer, but all three locomotives still have many
years to go. Only little 135 will survive the 50's, however. Today, this area is dramatically different as Modesto has expanded and subdivisions now cover the fields seen here. Not a trace of the small yard remains.
