Uncle Pete brings big changes and the Tidewater becomes a heavy duty branch.  Southern Pacific merger dooms Ninth Street and the road is severed forever into two disconnected segments.  The North End looks to a bleak future.

 

On August   , 1985, the Western Pacific, Sacramento Northern and Tidewater Southern corporate structures were officially dissolved and the merger truly complete.  The TS had become the Tidewater Subdivision in 198 and still hosted the heavy grain trains and locals of the later WP years.
