Caboose 307 arrived in the summer of 1958 as part of the Tidewater's last batch of cabooses. Formerly WP 639, it had been rebuilt from Pullman boxcar WP 15158 in 1942. Today, the car is a
private residence in Oakland. The 307 was retired in 1972, at the same time as TS 306. In reviewing TS paperwork of the time, it appears that the 307 was in the worst shape of the 3 TS cabooses. A recommendation was made in
1969 to replace the 307 with a second hand wood caboose, likely a WP bay window car. While an AFE was approved for this transaction, it appears not to have been carried out and the 307 would last another 2+ years.
