RS1 746 is just a bit into her last year on the railroad.  Already, sister 747 has been sold for scrap.  The classic Alco roadswitcher actually predates the F7A coupled behind her, but the narrow hood design and operational flexibility pioneered by the RS1 became the template for nearly all freight locomotives built today.
