November 1947. Aurora, California. This is one of the best roster shots I have ever seen of TS 100. Many of its quirky little details are revealed, including the stake pockets on the
underframe that date back to its flatcar days, the steam engine bell, air tank on the cab wall and the metal box (probably for sand) at the end of the near hood. Hard to see after size reduction is the fact that the recessed area under
the cab does NOT lie flush with the hood sides. In fact, the hood side steps out under the cab and the overhang is not as deep as it may appear. (Follow the shadow of the handrail to get an idea of the cab/hood intersection.)
The month this photo was taken, TS 106 was transferred to the Sacramento Northern. The 100 has only a few more months of service remaining.
