July 28, 1942.  Stockton, California

Looking bright and shiny, second 1 in all likelihood has just left the shop after a little TLC and is waiting at Stockton to return to work.  Note that the ten-wheeler  wears a black-out hood over the headlight, standard WWII practice for locomotives operating on the West Coast.  The light itself is also a different style, changed out from the older "oil lamp" style light.  The old, one-time passenger engine also now features a switcher style footboard pilot.
