April 24, 1948. Stockton, California.
Waiting at the WP Roundhouse, TS 132 is looking a little on the scruffy side. She still
has many more years of service left, but today the railroad is in the midst of a major transition. Electric 100 will be officially retired in 2 days and its likely that the overhead wire in Modesto has already been deactivated.
Never again will 132 nose up to an electric locomotive for the jaunt down Ninth Street. Instead, diesels will be her escort, until she's finally replaced by them.
